ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING has been established in 2011 with an enrolment of 60, since its inception the department has had significant advancements in academics, research, and consultancy endeavours. Students and instructors are urged to augment their knowledge by enrolling in NPTEL courses.
The department aims to enhance the expertise of teachers and students by organising workshops, industry-institute interactions, continuous improvement programs featuring distinguished figures from industry and academia, seminars, and research activities.
The department possesses well-equipped facilities, including the Workshop Laboratory, Fluid Mechanics Laboratory, Strength of Materials Laboratory, Instrumentation Laboratory, Metallurgy Laboratory, CAD Simulation Laboratory, Thermal Engineering Laboratory, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Laboratory.
The department possesses Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with several Industry Research Organizations and a substantial number of paper articles, patents, and book/book chapters.

- To provide sufficient understanding of mathematics, applied science, ethics and management principles to apply them effectively in real-world problem-solving scenarios and make appropriate decisions.
- To equip students with a solid foundational knowledge and extensive proficiency in fundamental technical fields such as design, thermal dynamics, manufacturing, automotive, and industrial engineering.

- Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

Department is having following well equipped labs

- THERMODYNAMICS LAB: Thermodynamics lab is intended to make students clear understanding about construction, an operation of different types of boiler, boiler mountings and accessories. This lab enables the student to understand the arrangement and operation of IC engine and steam power plant components.
- HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER LAB: The Lab provides the facilities for imparting practical training on the related concept of heat and mass transfer in steam turbine, gas turbine, thermal power plants and heat exchanger.
- THEORY OF MACHINES LAB: The lab provide practical understanding of the important concept of balancing of machine parts, vibration in machine parts, flywheel and gear drive are studied in the lab. Students can apply this practical experience in aerospace, automobile and production industry.
- MEASUREMENT AND METROLOGY LAB: Measurement and Metrology lab has facility to introduce linear, angular and taper measurement, measurement of surface finish, straightness, flatness, parallelism and miscellaneous measurement.
- WORKSHOP: The knowledge of machine tools, welding and sheet metal shop, carpentry and fitting shop is essential for engineering students. These shops enable the students to get hand on experience of various manufacturing and fabrication methods
- IC ENGINE &AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING LAB: The lab has updated equipment’s needed for imparting practical insight into the study of automobile engineering .Various elements like transmission ,suspension, chassis etc. are deal with. This lab is very useful for the automobile industries.
- REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING LAB: In RAC Lab students get the information about the working of refrigeration and Air conditioning system. The lab has state of the art facilities for providing the hand on experience to the engineering students.
- MATERIALSCIENCE & TESTING LAB: This lab is frequently used by the students of mechanical engineering for doing research projects. The students conduct tensile and compressive testing on metals and polymers, Creep testing, Fatigue testing, Hardness and Impact test etc.
- MANUFACTURING SCIENCE & TESTING LAB: The lab deals with the problem of advanced machining and manufacturing. Students conduct various experiments on Forging, Casting, Welding and Machining .The lab also had a Machine Shop, Engine Lathe, Central Lathe and Fitting Shop.
- CAD /CAM LAB: CAM is the use of computer system to plan, manage and control the operation of manufacturing. Departmental has industrial CNC lathe to manufacture the given model using turning, cutting and facing operation etc.
- FLUID MACHINERY LAB: The lab is equipped with Reciprocating Pump, Centrifugal Pump along with Pelton and Francis turbine working model. This lab imparts practical knowledge which can be applying to power plant and hydraulic machinery industries.
- FLUID MACHINERY LAB: Fluid mechanics deals with the study of all fluids under static and dynamic situations. It is important to understand the functioning principles and characteristics of fluid motion from an engineering point of view.
- CAEG LAB: The aim of the Computer Aided Engineering Graphics lab is to increase the visualization capability in engineering application. Students also learn Engineering Drawing and AutoCAD for better future perspective.
E-Learning Studio
The faculties are using multimedia elements LCD projectors in the Class room. It will help the faculties to represent the content in a more meaningful way using different media elements.
